FAQ
TALLOW
Where do you source your tallow?
Where do you source your tallow?
I source my tallow from Fat Lady Tallow in Wisconsin, where she dry renders local grassfed beef suet (the cleanest fat around the kidneys).
Where do you source your herbs from?
I purchase herbs from a few different sources- I look for organic, originally grown, and wildcrafted herbs.
Where do the scents come from in your products?
The scents come from herbal and vanilla infusions or for example, the honey in Charli's Whipped Cream. I do not use fragrance oils or essential oils in any of my skincare products.
What is the difference between Charli's Whipped Cream and your other tallow whips?
Charli's Whipped Cream is a blend of grassfed beef tallow and manuka honey with an MGO 850+. It has a tacky texture that is meant for bites, scrapes, dry/cracked skin, and quite popularly, a face cream.
The other tallow whips serve as moisturizers for the whole body.
Keep in mind, a little goes a long way!
Is tallow skin care a fad?
No. Animal fat has long been used to moisturize skin- it just has hit the beauty industry pretty hard in the last few years. With a couple of flaws I might add.
1. Poor sourcing= you don't know where it came from and how it's processed.
2. Tallow getting mixed with a laundry list of ingredients that you can't pronounce= an overglorified tallow product.
Tallow should be acknowledged for its simplicity and profile all on its own.
🌟 It's non-oxidizing, meaning you can lather up and not have to worry about it breaking down and going rancid spending a day in the sun (no skin irritation or oil induced burning).
🌟 When sourced well, the omega profile is nourishing and replenishing for your skin.
🌟 It's a product source that most folks have access to, especially here in the US.
HEAT PACKS
How do I heat my heatpack?
Microwave: heat on a clean dish/towel in 30 second increments until desired temperature is reached.
Oven: heat at 200°F for 30 minutes, or until desired temperature is reached
Heating will also depend on the size of your heat pack- the larger the heat pack, the more you may have to play around with timing to get desired temperature.
What if I spill on my heat pack?
If it's just a little spill, go ahead and wipe it off with a damp cloth and make sure it fully dries.
Let's say you dropped it in a sink with dirty dish water or it fell out of the car in a mud puddle...
If you wanted to save the heat pack (assuming there aren't major tears), you could take a seam ripper and open a 4 inch section, empty out the rice, clean the fabric with a mild soap, and hang to dry. Send it back my way if you need help, or go ahead and refill your heat pack and stitch it up with cotton thread.
